Frequently Asked Questions

Will you check on my home while I'm out of town?

Yes.  You will need to contact the Police Dept., give them your information, dates you will be gone and a responsible person that has access to the property.  An Officer will do an area check and see if there is activity and determine if an offence report is necessary.

Can you go check on my family member? Yes.  We can do a welfare check on anyone located inside the city limits of New Boston.  We must have an address to be able to do the welfare check.

Do you respond to calls on County Road addresses? No.  Our Police Dept. only responds to calls inside the city limits.  However, we do respond when the Bowie County Sheriff's Office requests our assistance.  If you live in the County you will need to contact Bowie County Sheriff's Offices at (903) 798-3876.

There are people speeding down my road. Can you patrol my road? Yes.  Anytime someone is speeding, or acting suspiciously, please feel free to call us and we will do a check of the area.

What time do you open/close? We are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  You can call or come by the Police Dept. anytime.

Can you do fingerprinting? Yes.  The cost is $10.  You need to bring your own fingerprint card and your ID.

Do I have a warrant? We are only able to tell you if you have a New Boston warrant.

Will an Officer go with me to get my things? We do not do civil standbys.  If you have an issue while you are there you can call the Police Dept. and an Officer can advise you what you need to do.

How can I get a copy of a Police Report? Offense and Arrest reports are available with the Chief’s approval.  You will need to fill out a request form at the Police Dept.  Accident reports are available without approval as long as your name is on the report and the report is ready.  Cost for any report is $5 per copy.
